★ One of a very few known examples ★

John V Palaeologus, with John VI, 1347-1353. Basilikon (Silver, 19 mm, 1.00 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis. Ο-Α-ΓΙ-ω - Δ-ΗΜ-ΤΡ-S St. Demetrius, nimbate and beardless, standing facing in military attire, holding spear in his right hand and placing his left on shield set on the ground. Rev. ΙωЄΝΧωΤ - ΙωЄΝΧ[...] John V, on the left, standing facing, wearing loros, placing his right hand on his chest, and John VI, on the right, standing facing, wearing loros, placing his left hand on his chest, holding long cross between them. CNG 99 (2015), 887. DOC -. LBC -. Leu 97 (2006), -. LPC -. PCPC -. SB -. Extremely rare, one of a very few known examples. Areas of weakness, otherwise, good very fine.

From a German collection of late Byzantine silver coins, formed in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
