★ A very well centered drachm from Samos ★

ISLANDS OFF IONIA, Samos. Circa 510-500 BC. Drachm (Silver, 14 mm, 3.28 g, 4 h), Samian standard. Forepart of a winged boar to right. Rev. Facing lion's scalp; all within dotted square within incuse square. Barron Class B, 96-9. HGC 6, 1192. SNG Copenhagen 1674. Lightly toned and very well centered. Struck on a somewhat irregular flan and with minor marks, otherwise, very fine.
