Description

NORTHWEST GAUL. Coriosolites. Circa 100-50 BC. Stater (Billon, 23 mm, 6.39 g, 5 h), 'au nez en crosse' type. Celticized male head to right. Rev. Devolved charioteer, driving a cart drawn by a centaur to right; to right, X; below, lyre and ornament. DT 2333. LT 6684. Beautifully toned. Edge crack and somewhat rough, otherwise, very fine.

From the Joachim Schlüter Collection of Celtic coins, ex CGB E-Auction July 2021, 3 August 2021, 535540 and Künker E-Auction 24, 27 November 2013, 2, and reportedly privately acquired in September 1975.
