NORTHWEST GAUL. Veneti. 2nd century BC. Stater (Silver, 20 mm, 3.47 g). Celticized head of Apollo to right, with strings of pearls ending in miniature human heads coming out of his own head and with a boar above. Rev. Charioteer, driving a cart drawn by a centaur to right, holding reins with his left hand and long branch ending in a vexillum-like banner in his right; below, winged male figure to right. DT 2096 var. (gold). LT.6826-6827 (gold). Apparently unpublished in this metal. Struck from a heavily worn obverse die and with some scratches, otherwise, nearly very fine.
