Description

KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 4.31 g, 12 h), Magnesia ad Maeandrum, struck under Lysimachos, circa 301/0-300/299. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. [A]ΛEΞANΔP[OY] Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, lion seated right; below throne, A within wreath. Price 1985A. Rare. Some marks on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
