KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 17.14 g, 6 h), uncertain mint in Cilicia ('Side'), struck under Philotas or Philoxenos, 323-317. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ - AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, ΔΙ, below throne, monogram of ΕΝ. Price 2949. Nicely toned and of beautiful style. The obverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, extremely fine.
