Description

MYSIA. Pergamon. Circa 166-67 BC. Cistophorus (Silver, 27 mm, 12.38 g, 12 h), circa 104-98. Cista mystica from which snake coils; around, ivy wreath with fruits. Rev. Two snakes coiled around a bow case; between the snake heads, NI; to left, monogram of ΠΕΡΓ; to right, serpent-entwined staff. Kleiner, Hoard 23. Pinder 99. SNG Paris 1724. Nicely toned. Cleaning scratches on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.
