BYZANTINE. 4th-6th centuries. Weight of 1 Ounkia (Orichalcum, 27x27 mm, 26.39 g), a uniface square commercial weight with plain edges. ΓoA Draped busts of two emperors, diademed, facing; above, cross; all within square wreath; all details engraved, the faces and letters inlaid in silver, the wreath in copper. Rev. Blank. CPAI -. MAH -. A very attractive imperial weight. Light marks and some of the inlays missing, otherwise, good very fine.
