Justinian I, 527-565. Solidus (Gold, 22 mm, 4.37 g, 7 h), a contemporary imitation, irregular mint. D N IVSTINIANVS P P AVI Helmeted and cuirassed bust of Justinian facing, holding globus cruciger in his right hand and shield with his left. Rev. VICTORIA AVGGG A / CONOB Angel standing facing, holding long cross with right hand and globus cruciger in left; in field to right, star. Cf. DOC 8, MIB 6 and SB 139 (for prototype). An interesting contemporary imitation struck on a broad flan. Minor deposits and the flan slightly wavy , otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
