Description

L. Procilius, 80 BC. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 4.00 g, 7 h), Rome. Head of Juno Sospita to right, wearing goat-skin headdress; behind, S•C. Rev. L•PROCILI•F Juno Sospita in fast biga to right, hurling spear with her right hand and holding shield adorned with thunderbolt with her left; below horses, serpent with head erect to right. Babelon (Procilia) 2. Crawford 379/2. RBW 1407. Sydenham 772. Minor marks and the reverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, very fine.

From an American collection of Roman Republican and Imperatorial coins, privately acquired from Harlan J. Berk (with collector's and original dealer's tickets).
