Description

Justinian I, 527-565. Solidus (Gold, 21 mm, 4.22 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis, circa 538-545. D N IVSTINIANVS P P AVI Helmeted and cuirassed bust of Justinian facing, holding globus cruciger in his right hand and shield, decorated with cavalryman on horseback, with his left. Rev. VICTORIA AVGGG I / CONOB Angel standing facing, holding long linear cross with his right hand and globus cruciger in his left; in field to right, star. DOC 8h. MIB 6. SB 139. Slightly clipped and with light scratches on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.
