★ Attractive iridescent toning ★

M. Atilius Saranus, 148 BC. Denarius (Silver, 20 mm, 3.73 g, 12 h), Rome. SARAN Head of Roma to right, wearing crested and winged helmet; to right, X (mark of value). Rev. M•ATIL / ROMA (in linear frame) The Dioscuri, each holding spear, on horseback galloping right; above their heads, two stars. Babelon (Atilia) 8. Crawford 214/1c. RBW 906. Sydenham 398d. Attractive iridescent toning. Somewhat porous and with light marks, otherwise, nearly very fine.

From an American collection of Roman Republican and Imperatorial coins, ex Peus 372, 30 October 2002, 846 (with collector's and original auction tickets).
