Description

LUCANIA. Herakleia. Circa 281-278 BC. Diobol (Silver, 11 mm, 0.95 g, 12 h). Head of Athena to left, wearing crested Corinthian helmet decorated with griffin (?). Rev. ՒHPAKΛ[HIΩN] Herakliskos Drakonopnigon: the infant Herakles, nude, crouching three-quarters to right, strangling a serpent in each hand; in exergue, club. HN Italy 1422. Van Keuren 125. Very rare. Nicely toned. Nearly very fine.
