Alexius I Comnenus, 1081-1118. Hyperpyron (Gold, 29 mm, 4.46 g, 12 h), Thessalonica, 1092-1118. +ΚЄ ROHΘЄI Christ, nimbate, seated facing on throne, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels in his left; in fields, IC - XC. Rev. A/ΛЄ/ZΙ/Ⲱ / ΔЄC/ΠΟ/Τ T/Ⲱ / KO/MN/N/Ⲱ Alexius I standing facing, wearing crown, divitision and jewelled chlamys, holding labarum in his right hand and globus cruciger in his left; in upper right field, manus Dei. DOC 20h. SB 1924. Sharply struck and lustrous, a beautiful piece. Virtually as struck.
