Description

KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip II, 359-336 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 23 mm, 14.36 g, 6 h), Amphipolis, struck by Antipater, Polyperchon or Kassander, circa 323/2-316/5. Laureate head of Zeus to right. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΥ Young jockey, holding palm frond in his right hand and reins in his left, riding horse to right; below horse, wreath; below raised foreleg, pellet-in-Π. Le Rider pl. 46, 14. SNG ANS 747. Lightly toned. Test cut and some scratches on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
