Description

KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 17.00 g, 11 h), Damaskos, struck under Menon or Menes, 330-323. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, forepart of a ram to right; below throne, pellet and ΔA. Price 3203. Porous and with horn silver and some scratches, otherwise, very fine.

Ex Leu Web-Auction 20, 16 July 2022, 598 and from a European collection, formed before 2005.
