IONIA. Kolophon. Circa 50 BC. AE (Bronze, 18 mm, 5.94 g, 12 h), Pytheos, magistrate. ΠYΘEOΣ The Poet Homer seated left, holding scroll in his left hand and propping his head on his right. Rev. KOΛOΦΩNI[ΩN] Apollo standing right, holding kithara in his left hand and phiale in his right. Kinns 177. Milne, Colophon, 177. SNG Copenhagen 186-187. An attractive example with a clear rendering of Homer. Minor roughness, otherwise, good very fine.
