Description

KINGS OF THRACE. Lysimachos, 305-281 BC. Drachm (Silver, 18 mm, 3.94 g, 1 h), Ephesos, circa 295/4-289/8. Diademed head of Alexander the Great to right with horn of Ammon over his ear. Rev. [ΒΑ]ΣIΛΕΩ[Σ] - ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ Athena seated left, holding Nike, crowning the king's name, in her right hand and leaning with her left arm on shield decorated with lion's head; behind, transverse spear; in inner left field, bee between E-Φ. Müller 421. Thompson 168. Harshly cleaned and retoned. Flan crack and with a die break on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
