LOCAL ISSUES, Sogdiana. Ikhshids of Samarkand. Turghar, 740-760. Cash (Bronze, 18 mm, 2.60 g). Around a central square hole, ‘twrγʾr MLKʾ’, i.e. ‘Torγar xutāw’ (‘King Turghar’ in Sogdian). Rev. The Y-shaped tamgha of Samarqand and two other symbols on the sides of the square hole. Lurje 1264. Smirnova 519. Some weakness, otherwise, very fine.
