SASANIAN KINGS. Bahram V, 420-438. Drachm (Silver, 27 mm, 4.25 g, 3 h), GW (Gurgan). MZDYSN BGY WLHL'N MLKAn MLKA ('Worshipper of Lord Mazda, 'God' Wahram, King of Kings' in Pahlawi) Draped bust of Bahram V to right, wearing elaborate crown with frontal crescent and korymbos set on crescent. Rev. Fire altar with head of Bahram V on shaft flanked by two attendants; in field to right, GW (name of the mint in Pahlawi). SNS III, pl. 62, A15. Struck from a worn reverse die and with light deposits, otherwise, about extremely fine.
