Description

ISLAMIC, Syria & al-Jazira (Pre-Seljuq). Mirdasids. Rashid al-Dawla Mahmud, AH 452-3, 457-67/8 / AD 1060-1, 1065-75/6. Dirham (Billon, 17 mm, 1.48 g, 3 h), citing the ʿAbbasid caliph al- Qaʾim bi-amr Allah on the obverse, and the Great Seljuq sultan ʿAdud al-Dawla Alp Arslan ibn Daʾud on the reverse, without mint and date, struck after accepting Great Seljuq overlordship towards the end of AH 463 = 1071. Album 769. Very rare. Some areas of weakness and with minor edge cracks, otherwise, good fine.
