Description

L. Cornelius Lentulus and C. Claudius Marcellus, 49 BC. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 3.84 g, 7 h), military mint travelling with Pompey in the East. Triskeles, with winged head of Medusa facing at center; stalk of grain between each leg. Rev. COS / LE NT - MAR Jupiter standing front, head to right, holding thunderbolt in his right hand and eagle in his left. Babelon (Cornelia) 64 and (Claudia) 9. Crawford 445/1b. RBW 1562. Sydenham 1029. Small nick on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
