ITALY. Papal Coinage. Gregory XIII, 1572-1585. Testone (Silver, 29 mm, 9.60 g, 9 h), Ancona. GREGORIVS XIII PON M Arms surmounted by tiara and crossed keys. Rev. S PETRVS APOSTOLVS / ANCONA St. Peter seated facing, nimbate, raising his right hand in benediction and holding key in his left. Berman 1218. Muntoni 237 var. (words divided by dots, not stars). Beautifully toned and exceptionally well preserved. Extremely fine.
