Description
UNCERTAIN GERMANIC TRIBES, Aurum Barbarorum. Late 3rd-early 4th centuries. 'Quinarius' (Electrum, 15 mm, 2.88 g, 9 h), 'Gordian Group'. Imitating Aurelian, 270-275. IMP AVRELIANVS Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Aurelian to left. Rev. AIIς IMP IX Eagle standing right with wings spread, head turned to left. Cf. Aurum Barbarorum I (2019), 802 ( same dies, but in solid gold). Traces of mounting and with scratches on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
