★ An exceptionally well preserved issue of Gordian III from Carallia ★

CILICIA. Carallia. Gordian III, 238-244. Tetrassarion (Orichalcum, 31 mm, 16.05 g, 12 h). ΑΥΤ Κ Μ ΑΝΤ•ΓΟΡΔΙΑΝΟC Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian III to right, seen from behind. Rev. ΚΑΡΑΛΛΙΩΤΩΝ Athena standing front, head to left, holding Nike in her right hand and spear in her left. RPC VII.2 2681. SNG Copenhagen 73. Very attractive and exceptionally well preserved. Minor aereas of weakness and with some adjustment marks as made, otherwise, extremely fine.
