★ A fine style head of Demeter ★
LUCANIA. Metapontion. Circa 330-290 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 19 mm, 7.80 g, 11 h). Head of Demeter facing slightly to the right, wearing wreath of grain ears. Rev. META Barley ear with leaf to right; above leaf, boukranion. HN III 1584. Johnston J6.2. A nicely toned piece with a fine style head of Demeter. Very fine.
