Constantine I, 307/310-337. Follis (Bronze, 21 mm, 3.26 g, 6 h), Rome, 317-318. IMP CONSTANTINVS P F AVG Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Constantine I to right. Rev. SOLI INV-I-CTO COMITI / R S Sol, nude but for chlamys, standing front, head to left, raising his right hand in salute and holding globe in his left; in field to left, wreath. RIC 97. Double struck and with minor weakness, otherwise, extremely fine.

From the collection of Dr. L. Ramskold, formed since 1969.

The obverse is double struck with a small displacement, but the die used to strike the reverse was rotated 180 degrees before striking. This feature will be discussed in detail in a coming study by Ramskold.
