★ A very rare solidus of Honorius ★
Honorius, 393-423. Solidus (Gold, 21 mm, 4.40 g, 6 h), Thessalonica, 408-420. D N HONORI-VS P F AVG Pearl-diademed, helmeted and cuirassed bust of Honorius facing, his head turned slightly to right, holding spear in his right hand and with a shield, decorated with a horseman spearing a fallen foe, over his left shoulder. Rev. CONCORDI-A AVGG / TES•OB• Constantinopolis, helmeted and head to right, seated facing on throne, holding scepter in her right hand and Victory on globe in her left and placing her right foot on a prow; in field to left, star. Depeyrot 50/1. RIC 359. Very rare. A fresh, sharply struck and lustrous example. Very light doubling on the reverse, otherwise, virtually as struck.
