Description

PTOLEMAIC KINGS OF EGYPT. Ptolemy II Philadelphos, 285-246 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28 mm, 13.45 g, 1 h), uncertain mint 9, on Cyprus, circa 275/4-261/0. Diademed head of Ptolemy I to right, wearing aegis around neck. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΠTOΛEMAIOY Eagle with closed wings standing left on thunderbolt; to left, monogram of Π and T above monogram of Ω and Λ; to right, Galatian shield. CPE 418. SNG Copenhagen 104. Svoronos 530. Slightly rough and with minor deposits on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
