Description

THESSALY. Larissa. Circa 420-400 BC. Drachm (Silver, 19 mm, 5.84 g, 1 h). Head of the nymph Larissa to right, hair bound in sakkos, wearing single-pendant earring. Rev. ΛΑΡΙΣΑ/I-A Bridled horse leaping right; all within incuse square. BCD Thessaly I 1131 ( same dies ). HGC 4, 428. Traité IV, 695 and pl. CCXCVIII, 5 ( same dies ). Struck from a somewhat worn obverse die and with minor deposits on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
