Description

Alexius I Comnenus, 1081-1118. Hyperpyron (Gold, 32 mm, 4.26 g, 6 h), post-reform coinage, Constantinopolis, 1092-1118. +ΚЄ ROHΘЄI Christ, nimbate, seated facing on throne, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels in his left; in fields, IC - XC. Rev. A/ΛЄ/ΖΙⲰ / ΔЄC/ΠΟ/Τ/Η TⲰ / KO/ MNH /NⲰ Alexius I standing facing, wearing crown, divitision and exagerrated jewelled chlamys, holding labarum in his right hand and globus cruciger in his left; in upper right field, manus Dei to left. SB 1912. Double struck and banged up, otherwise, very fine.
