CILICIA. Tarsus. Septimius Severus, 193-211. Hexassarion (Orichalcum, 35 mm, 33.57 g, 12 h). AYT KAI Λ CЄΠ CЄYHPOC ΠЄP / Π - Π Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Septimius Severus to right. Rev. AΔP CЄYHPIANH - [TAPC]OY / [MHTPOΠΟΛЄΩC] - Γ B Nike driving fast quadriga to right, holding palm branch in her right hand and reins in her left. SNG Levante 1028 ( same dies ). SNG Paris 1474. A beautiful piece with a lovely brown patina and a particularly attractive portrait. Minor weakness on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
