CAPPADOCIA. Caesaraea-Eusebia. Pseudo-autonomous issue. 1/3 Assarion (Bronze, 16 mm, 2.87 g, 12 h), 80/1 or 100/1 AD. Turreted and draped bust of the city-goddess to right. Rev. Є-T / •Γ• Pyramid. Henseler 156 (time of Titus). RPC III 3131 (time of Trajan). A sharp and attractive example. Somewhat smoothed, otherwise, good very fine.
RPC III dates all the pyramid issues from Caesarea-Eusebia to the time of Trajan, but T. Ganschow has recently argued for a more diverse picture, attributing the various regnal years to differing emperors from Nero to Hadrian. He assigns the present coin with RY 3 to Titus and hence to 80/1 AD.
