Death of Thomas Snelling 1773 40mm diameter in bronze by L. Pingo, Obverse: bust right, draped, THOMAS SNELLING, Reverse: OBIIT DIE II MAI MDCCLXXIII ETAT LXI, in 5 lines within a wreath, MERVISTI, BHM 180, Eimer 749, 26.26 grammes, EF, the reverse with minor surface marks. Note: Thomas Snelling (1712-1773) numismatist and antiquary was author of various works cataloguing British and continental coinage. He was the most celebrated London Coin dealer of his day with premises in Fleet Street patronised by members of the Royal family
