Alexius I, Comnenus (1081-1118), tetarteron, Thessalonica, pre-reform coinage, facing bust of Virgin orans, on her breast, nimbate head of the infant Christ facing, rev., facing bust of Alexius holding jewelled sceptre and globus cruciger; 3.07g (DO 8.4; S. 1906), dark patina, very fine Ex European Ambassador Collection, formed in the 1950s and 1960s.
