Charles I, Oxford mint, sixpence, 1644, struck from an Aberystwyth obverse die and a reverse die for a groat, m.m. book (on obverse only), obv., crowned bust left, plume before and mark of value behind, rev., Declaration in three lines, Shrewsbury plume and two lis above, date and ·OX· below, 2.81g (Morr. A-1; Brooker, not represented; N. 2460; S. 2982), a few surface knocks on obverse, good fine, reverse very fine Provenance: Bridgewater House Collection, Sotheby’s, 15 June 1972, lot 276.
