Andronicus I Comnenus, 1183-1185. Tetarteron (Copper, 23 mm, 3.76 g, 6 h), Thessalonica. MP ΘY Half-length bust of the Virgin Mary facing, orans, with medallion with the bust of the infant Jesus on her chest. Rev. [AN]-ΔPO Half-length figure of Andronicus facing, holding labarum and globus cruciger. DOC 6. SB 1987. Glossy dark surfaces. Very fine.
