Side. Circa 460-430 BC. Stater (Silver, 20 mm, 10.92 g, 3 h), c. 460s. Pomegranate overlaid by a pomegranate tree branch, shown vertically with the tip pointing down. Rev. Beardless head to right, wearing a wreath of olive or (?) pomegranate leaves; all within an incuse square. SNG Paris 624 var (as hemistater). SNG von Aulock 4761 (same dies). Extremely rare, a most uncommon and unusual type for Side, with a head on the reverse of uncertain identification (Athena? Male deity?). Obverse slightly off-center and partially flat struck, otherwise, good very fine.
