SICILY. Segesta. Circa 455/50-445/40 BC. Didrachm (Silver, 24 mm, 8.33 g, 5 h). Hound, the rivergod Krimisos, standing to left, head turned to look back at murex shell above. Rev. ΣΕCEΣΤΑΖΙΒ (retrograde) Head of the nymph Aigeste to right, her hair bound with taenia and curled up at the back. Hurter -, but cf. 60 and 66 (V20/R40 - unrecorded die combination ). Cf. McClean 2539 ( same obverse die ). SNG Munich 841 (( same reverse die ). Reverse die deteriorated, otherwise, nearly very fine.
