Description
SICILY. Segesta. Circa 455/50-445/40 BC. Didrachm (Silver, 22 mm, 8.40 g, 12 h). Hound, the rivergod Krimisos, standing to left; above, barley grain. Rev. ΣΕCEΣΤΑΖΙΒ (retrograde) Head of the nymph Aigeste to left, her hair bound with taenia and curled up at the back. Hurter 72 (V24/R38). SNG ANS 636 ( same dies ). SNG Ashmolean 1874 ( same dies ). SNG Lloyd 1167 ( same dies ). Light toning. Nearly very fine.
