Description

BRUTTIUM. Kaulonia. Circa 475-425 BC. Stater (Silver, 20 mm, 7.97 g, 12 h). ΚΑVΛ ( retrograde ) Apollo, nude, his hair bound with a taenia, advancing to right, with a laurel branch in his upraised right hand and a daimon running to right on his outstretched left arm. Rev. ΚΑV ( retrograde ) Stag standing to right; to right, laurel branch. Dewing 150 ( same dies ). HN III 2046. Noe, Caulonia 97 ( same dies ). Well struck for the type. Very fine.
