LOKRIS. Lokris Opuntii. Circa 370-360 BC. Stater (Silver, 22 mm, 12.23 g, 12 h). Head of Persephone to left, wearing wreath of grain leaves and triple-pendant earring. Rev. ΟΠΟΝΤΙΩΝ Ajax, nude but for helmet, moving right, holding short sword in his right hand and, in his left, shield adorned with a serpent on the inside; between legs, round shield. BCD Lokris 15. BMC 7. H&D 37 ( same dies, and possibly specimen b ). HGC 4, 989. SNG Copenhagen 47. Lustrous and attractive with beautifully detailed types. Struck on a tight flan and with a flan fault on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
