PONTOS. Laodiceia. Time of Mithradates VI Eupator, circa 100-85 BC. (Bronze, 18 mm, 4.08 g, 12 h). Head of Dionysos right, wearing ivy wreath. Rev. ΛΑΟΔΙ-ΚΕΙΑΣ Filleted thyrsos; to right, monogram of MTE. HGC 7, 290. RG 3. A pleasing portrait of Dionysos and and a nice dark patina. Very rare - only one example in CoinArchives. Slight pitting, otherwise, nearly very fine.
