Description

KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Hemiobol (Bronze, 18.5 mm, 5.83 g, 9 h), struck posthumously during the reign of Philip III, Tarsos, circa 323-317. Head of Herakles in lion's skin headdress to right; before his forehead, kerykeion. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY above, kerykeion to left over club to right; below, bow in case over star. Newell, Tarsos 46. Price 3061. Minor dent on obverse, otherwise, nearly very fine.
