Description
John II Comnenus, 1118-1143. Half Tetarteron (Bronze, 17 mm, 2.70 g, 7 h), Thessalonica, circa 1137-1143(?). IC - XC Christ standing facing on dais, raising right hand in benediction and holding Gospels in left. Rev. Iω ΔΕCΠOT Βust of John II facing, holding labarum in right hand and globus cruciger in left. DOC 16. SB 1954. Green and brown patina. Some flaking, otherwise, very fine.
