John III Ducas (Vatatzes), emperor of Nicaea, 1222-1254. Tetarteron (Bronze, 20 mm, 3.79 g, 6 h), Magnesia. Βust of St. George facing, holding spear in right hand and shield in left; in left field, A in circle; in right field, monogram of ΓΕωP. Rev. Iω / ΔHC/Π/O ΔOY/K/A/C John III standing facing, holding labarum in right hand and akakia in left. DOC 58. SB 2116. Green patina. Good very fine.
