★ Sogdian imitation ★
SELEUKID KINGS. Antiochos I Soter, 281-261 BC. Hemidrachm (Silver, 15.5 mm, 2.77 g, 3 h), Sogdian imitation, copying Aï Khanoum. Diademed head of Antiochos I to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟΥ Head of horned and bridled horse's head to right; to right, monogram of ΟΔ. HGC 9, 137. SC 465. Small die-break on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.
The unusually high weight and crude style indicte this to be a Sogdian imitation.
