CRETE
Rhaukos. Circa 330-270 BC. Stater (Silver, 26mm, 11.36 g 12). Poseidon, nude but for his wreath, standing right, holding a trident in his right hand and the reins of his horse, standing right behind him with his right fore hoof raised. Rev. ΡΑ-ΥΚ-[ΙΟΝ] ( retrograde ) Trident with points downward. Gorny & Mosch 232, 2015, 247 ( same dies ). Le Rider pl. VI, 7-8. Svoronos Suppl. 58 = pl. 13, 8 ( same dies ). An excellent, clear piece with an obverse of unusually fine Classical style. Reverse lightly struck, otherwise , about extremely fine. From the Brünn Collection, acquired in Italy prior to World War I.
