Arcadius, 383-408. Solidus (Gold, 20mm, 4.46 g 6), Constantinople, c. 402-403. D N ARCADI - VS P F AVG Helmeted, diademed and cuirassed bust of Arcadius facing, holding spear over his right shoulder and with shield, ornamented with a horseman spearing a fallen foe, over his left. Rev. NOVA SPES REIPVBLICAE / CONOB Victory seated right on cuirass, supporting on her left knee a shield, which she inscribes XX/XXX. RIC X, 23. A rare variety. Very slightly rough surfaces. About extremely fine.
