INNIXVM.VLTRO.SESE.ERIGIT.PONDVS / FRVSTRA CO-NATVR (= it resists the weight they want to put on him; the effort is in vain ) Scene of a group of soldiers and churchmen who try to tear down a plaque labeled PRIVI/LEGI from a palm tree. Fieweger 755. PiN 29 ( this piece ). Van Loon pp. 421-422. Rare and attractive, with lovely old toning. Some areas of flatness in the legends, otherwise , extremely fine.
